Love Stories – Christine and Dylan

Married in March 2023 at The Jackson Ranch by Bannisters, bride and groom Christine and Dylan share highlights from their wedding love story.

What were the main features that you looked for in your venue search

We wanted to find somewhere that suited our vibe as a couple; laidback and relaxed. Our main priority was finding a venue that was beautiful enough on its own, with minimal DIY requirements. We also wanted a place that offered a 2 night stay for our nearest and dearest.

What made you choose the Jackson Ranch

We were initially recommended it through family and when we came for a site visit we fell in love instantly. The Jackson Ranch is the perfect balance of rustic simplicity and bush charm, but with a modern twist thanks to the recent renovations. It helped that we were engaged at Big Sky in Montana, so the ‘Ranch’ vibes were very on theme with our love story. The on-site accommodation was great, we loved having the entire family and bridal party stay with us. The exclusive hire of the venue meant we could enjoy the pool, relaxing before our big day.

Ceremony / reception locations

Our ceremony was down by the lake with the arbour. It was so beautiful and the perfect backdrop for our ‘I do’s’. We loved the fact we could have our ceremony with views of the lake and how the wedding flowed from the lakeside, to the lawn, to the marquee and finally the lodge for a dance party like no other.

Biggest budget spend

Honestly, it was spent on the venue (+ bar tab). But it was worth every penny! All of our guests commented that it was the best wedding they had ever been to.

Favourite 3 moments

Enjoying the pool the day before with our guests – relaxed vibes before a busy wedding day!

Bridal Party entrance to the reception in the marquee – it was so much fun looking out to all of our loved ones and being cheered on.

Bride and Groom 10 minute  ‘lock-in’ at the Saloon Bar before our first dance. It was recommended by TJR and we are SO happy we did it. We loved having a moment to ourselves to enjoy a cocktail and ‘calm the nerves’ before we kicked off the dance floor.

Hardest planning element

The run sheet – it was the last thing we wanted to worry about and even though we had planners, there were constant changes in the lead up to the day. We’ve learned that the run sheet really doesn’t matter on the day anyway and you just have to be flexible!

Key suppliers / assists that helped make the day

Alanna and Alison – Venue Coordinators from TJR – These ladies were our best friends on the day, we were so thankful to have them! No request was too difficult and any minor hiccups (of which there were so few) were dealt with a positive, solutions-focused attitude. Special shout out to Alanna for retrieving some leftover pizzas and delivering them to us in our glamping suite to enjoy after the day was over – you are an absolute gem!

Will from Wills Weddings – Photographer who was INCREDIBLE. We are so stoked with all of the photos, thanks Will!

Lily Ever After florals by Bec – nailed the brief!

The Romance:

We have been together 9 years – 9 years as best friends and dance partners! We got engaged at Big Sky in Montana. We love to boogie and will continue dancing through life together.

The Soundtrack:

Bridesmaids ceremony entrance: Sweet Disposition cover by Feeling Blew

Bride ceremony entrance: Resin by Dustin Tebutt

Signing the registry: This thing we got by The Kite String Tangle, Better by your Side by Aeble/Tom Aspaul

Bride & Groom exit: Just the Way You Are – Milky

First Dance: Shooting Stars, Bag Raiders Cover by Jaz and Jesse (our bridesmaid/groomsmen – very special!)

The Theme:

Simplistic and rustic with native green (sage) and white florals. A big focus on dancing with a touch of ranch style (bowler ties, cowboy boots and lots of RM Williams gear)

Favourite Details..

Honestly, everything!

We’re glad we…

Agreed to do a First Look in the two weeks leading up to the wedding. It was so good to get our photos out of the way so we could spend more time with our guests after the ceremony and enjoy the canape’s and cocktail hour! It also meant we had time to get some photos at The Gantry which we highly recommend as it’s such a beautiful spot!

Words of Wisdom

Try not to overthink details on the day. There is a high chance things won’t run exactly to time and that’s okay. Just relax and enjoy the flow of the day – The Jackson Ranch Team are awesome and will have everything covered, so there’s no need to worry.

We wish we had:

Taken a few more photos with our extended family. Unfortunately, the day was quite hot (37 degrees!) so it was a bit tricky rounding everyone up. Apart from this, we have 0 regrets – BEST DAY EVER!
