Laura and David wed in November 2023 at The Jackson Ranch by Bannisters. Bride Laura shares their love story and highlights from their special day.

How did you meet?

We met at a pub in Canberra at a rugby presentation night – the rugby club David played at.

My best friend (and Maid of Honour) facilitated the introduction as she thought we would potentially be a ‘good match’.

Describe the proposal…

Too long to do the story justice, however David outdid himself with planning and executing the most amazing weekend in Sydney and the Hunter Valley. He incorporated a family tradition and a surprise from our best friends, it was an incredibly special weekend!

How would you describe your wedding vibe?

We wanted a fun, relaxed and authentic wedding vibe. We kept it pretty low key in terms of styling as the venue itself is so beautiful. Our florals were green and white – using eucalyptus leaves with white flowers to embrace the surrounds.

Favourite 3 wedding moments?

Hard to say just 3! Spending time with our guests after the ceremony with a cocktail in hand was a lot of fun.

The reception in the marquee with great food and speeches was amazing, plenty of laughs, tears and good times.

And of course finishing the night with our band on the dance floor and a few sneaky espresso martinis!

We’re so glad we had…

Booked 3 nights onsite with our favourite people, including hosting our recovery lunch there the next day. It was incredibly special not to leave The Jackson Ranch the whole weekend. We can’t wait to be able to come and visit JR in the future and stay onsite again.

We are also so glad we booked our live band (The White Tree), who were amazing and really brought energy to the dance floor.

We wish we had…

More time! We loved everything about our day, however it is true that it just goes so quickly and we all didn’t want the dance floor to end!

A little about your vendors…

Our photographer and videographer truly made the day so incredibly fun and easy. They kept us on track, yet we hardly even knew they were there. They captured some amazing footage that we will treasure forever.

We were so lucky with ALL our vendors. Certainly makes the day run x10 more smoothly when you trust all your vendors!

Pulling the wedding vision together…

We didn’t really find anything too hard, we enjoyed planning and it’s so rewarding seeing it all come together. I think when you have a great team of vendors and people around you it takes the stress out of it.
