Love Stories – Samantha & Monty
Samantha and Monty celebrated their wedding with a classic and refined aesthetic, elevated by a modern coastal touch of blue.
We met at Kerby’s (Groomsman) 21st birthday in Newcastle. Samantha will say that we met early in the night in the kitchen. But we actually met in the garden (though we each have our own versions of the story!). After chatting for a little while, we realised that we both lived in Bondi but not realising that we lived 100m down the road from one another. We found this out a few weeks later when we were meeting up for our first date.
It was in 2022 on the weekend of the AFL grand final. There was a public holiday for the passing of the Queen so we had an extra long weekend. We flew to Melbourne on Thursday morning, landed and checked into the hotel. Monty suggested we go for a walk around the botanic gardens (which ended up being packed with lots of people enjoying the long weekend). We walked around for about 15-20 mins (I was trying to find a nice quiet spot), and we came across a rose garden. I suggested getting a photo so I set up my phone on the trestle, walked back to Samantha and pretended to pose for the photo then got down on one knee.
We spent the afternoon without telling anyone, we went for an early dinner and then went and watched a show that night. It was so special to enjoy the whole day, just the two of us. The swans got absolutely embarrassed in the Grand Final but Monty says he came out a winner.
Theme was classic and refined with a modern touch of blue like the coast line. It was an intimate candle lit soirée with friends and family. We embraced the native flora at Jackson Ranch, which was juxtaposed with the crisp white florals. Colour scheme was white, with a touch of blue and green.

Our Ceremony among the beautiful trees
Making sure that throughout the day we took time to just enjoy a couple of quiet moments together. One of our favourite moments was getting dressed in the igloo when we were changing into our second outfits of the evening.
The different ceremony options. We were really happy that the sun came out and we were able to get married among the beautiful trees outdoors before all of our friends and family.
More time.
Laura Smith (Fred Flowers.) – We trusted Laura wholeheartedly with all of our flowers only giving her the colour scheme and she created magic with everything she did on the day.
Bianca of JR who worked closely with Emma Micaleff (our wedding coordinator from Place of Lb on the day) to ensure the day ran as smoothly as possible. As well as our wedding planner, LB who put in all of the work in the lead up.
Give yourself more time than you plan for as little things will crop up that you didn’t think would and it all takes time. We specifically took moments in the day to just be with each other and have a second to enjoy what we’d been working so hard to plan for so long.
