Mrs Gibbons Flowers

We sat down with Amber and David to talk about their story, their creative philosophy, and what couples should know as they begin planning their floral journey.

At The Jackson Ranch, florals are never simply “decor.” They are atmosphere. They shape emotion, soften spaces, and create those unforgettable moments where everything feels deeply considered, yet effortless.

Few floral studios capture that feeling quite like Mrs Gibbons Flowers.

Known for sculptural installations, tonal layering, and an approach that is grounded in both artistry and intuition, the Mrs Gibbons team has transformed many celebrations at The Jackson Ranch into immersive, living landscapes. Their designs never feel imposed on the setting, they feel like they belong there, as though they’ve grown naturally from the land itself.

How Mrs Gibbons Flowers began

Can you tell us a little about how Mrs Gibbons Flowers began and what inspired your journey into floral design?

Mrs Gibbons Flowers began quite organically. Flowers have always been part of Amber’s life, from early days surrounded by gardens and greenhouses, to starting in floristry as a teenager. Over time, what began as a love for flowers evolved into a deeper fascination with form, movement, and how florals can shape a space emotionally, not just visually, and an intuitive understanding of how to bring large-scale ideas to life.

David came into the business with a complementary perspective, structure, advertising, marketing, logistics. Together, we built Mrs Gibbons Flowers as a studio that values thoughtful design, collaboration, and creating moments that feel deeply personal rather than prescriptive.

A creative philosophy led by intention

How would you describe the creative philosophy behind your work and the style you have become known for?

Our work is led by intention. We see florals as sculptural elements, something that should feel alive within a space rather than simply placed inside it. We’re drawn to natural movement, negative space, and designs that feel considered but not overworked.

Stylistically, we sit somewhere between refined and expressive. There’s often a quiet confidence to our work, layered textures, thoughtful colour, and shapes that feel slightly unexpected but grounded. Above all, we design for feeling, not trend.

Designing from feeling, not trend

When you begin designing florals for a wedding, what inspires you and guides your direction?

It always starts with the couple, how they move through the world, what they value, and what kind of experience they want to create for their guests. From there, we look to the setting, the season, and the natural character of the venue.

We’re particularly inspired by light, landscape, and architecture. Often it’s not one specific flower that leads the design, but a mood or a moment we’re trying to evoke, softness, drama, intimacy, or calm.

From the first conversation to the final installation

What does your process look like from the first chat with a couple to the final installation on the day?

Our process is collaborative and layered. The first conversation is about listening, understanding priorities, aesthetics, and how the day should feel. From there, we develop a design direction that balances creative vision with practical flow.

As the wedding approaches, we refine details, source seasonally and intentionally, and plan installations with care. On the day itself, it’s about trust, allowing the design to come together naturally, responding to the space, and ensuring everything feels effortless, even though a great deal of thought sits behind it.

Creating florals that belong to the land

You have transformed so many spaces at The Jackson Ranch. What do you enjoy about designing for this venue and how does the property influence your ideas?

The Jackson Ranch is incredibly special. There’s a sense of openness and honesty to the land, it doesn’t need to be overstyled. The bushland, the light, and the quiet drama of the setting invite a more restrained, intuitive approach to florals.

We love that each space on the property offers something different, yet everything feels connected. It encourages us to design in a way that feels grounded, organic, and responsive to nature rather than imposed upon it.

What they’re loving right now

Are there particular flowers, textures or design elements that you find yourself drawn to at the moment?

At the moment, we’re really drawn to texture and tonal layering, soft, cloud-like forms paired with more structural elements. Flowers that have natural movement, gentle imperfections, and a sense of seasonality feel especially compelling.

We’re also enjoying working with restraint, allowing fewer elements to speak more clearly, and giving space for shape and line to be appreciated.

Advice for couples starting their floral journey

For couples starting their floral journey, what advice would you give them as they begin planning?

Think about how you want the day to feel, not just how you want it to look. Trust the process, trust the season, and allow your florist to guide you toward what will work best for your space and your vision.

Florals don’t need to be everywhere to be impactful. Sometimes one beautifully considered moment can say far more than many smaller ones.

A favourite moment at The Jackson Ranch

Do you have a favourite floral moment or installation from your time working at The Jackson Ranch?

There have been many, but the moments that stay with us are often the quieter ones, installations that feel as though they’ve grown naturally from the landscape, where florals and setting feel inseparable. Those are the designs that tend to resonate long after the day itself.

What they hope couples feel on the day

What do you hope couples feel when they see their florals come together on their wedding day?

We hope they feel seen, that the florals reflect something true about them and their story.

More than anything, we want couples to feel a sense of calm and connection, that everything feels right, intentional, and quietly beautiful, allowing them to be fully present in the moment.
